Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • 1

Erecting and Dismantling Scaffolding: Safely and efficiently build, alter, and dismantle various scaffold structures (including tube and fitting, system scaffolds, and access towers) in accordance with design drawings, manufacturer guidelines, and SG4:22 (Preventing Falls in Scaffolding) regulations.

  • 2

Safety & Compliance: Conduct pre-use inspections and daily checks of equipment. Ensure all work areas are safe, clearly demarcated, and compliant with site-specific health and safety plans. You will work closely with site managers and banksman operatives to maintain a hazard-free zone.

  • 3

Material Handling: Safely load, unload, transport, and store scaffolding materials (boards, tubes, fittings, guardrails) using appropriate manual handling techniques and site plant where available, acting as a competent Labourer (General Construction) when required.

  • 4

Team Collaboration: Work effectively as part of a team under the direction of a Advanced or Lead Scaffolder. Provide guidance to less experienced crew members and assist other trades on site to ensure project timelines are met.

  • 5

Site Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised work area. Ensure all tools and equipment are stored correctly and any waste materials are disposed of in line with site environmental policies.

Essential Requirements & Skills

  • Valid CISRS Card (Scaffolder or Advanced): This is a non-negotiable requirement. A current CSCS card may also be acceptable for entry-level roles with relevant experience, which you can learn more about on our CSCS Labourers page.

  • Proven Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on scaffolding experience on UK construction sites, with strong references.

  • Safety-First Mindset: Thorough understanding of RAMS (Risk Assessment and Method Statements), working at height regulations, and a commitment to zero-harm culture.

  • Physical Fitness & Reliability: The role is physically demanding. You must be reliable, punctual, and have your own full PPE (hard hat, steel-toe boots, hi-vis, gloves).

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do I need my own transport for Glasgow G1 scaffolding jobs?

While some sites are easily accessible by public transport (many in the G1 postcode are central), having your own reliable transport is a significant advantage and is often required for sites on the outskirts or with early starts. We always clarify location and access during the screening process.

2. What if my CISRS card is about to expire?

You must have a valid card to work on site. We strongly advise you to renew it immediately. In some cases, we may be able to place you in a related Labourer (General Construction) role while you arrange your renewal. Check our CSCS Labourers page for more info on entry-level cards.

3. How quickly can I start after applying?

For candidates with all documents ready (valid card, right-to-work, references), we can often facilitate a start within 48-72 hours. Our reputation is built on speed, as seen in our video"Speed Hiring Challenge: Can We Fill This Role in 2 Hours?" – though we always prioritise proper vetting for your safety.

4. Does Quick Placement offer jobs outside of construction?

Absolutely. We are a full-service recruitment agency. While we are specialists in construction, we also place staff in hospitality, cleaning (including School Cleaners), warehousing, and administrative roles. Explore our Roles We Recruit page.

5. What makes Quick Placement different from other agencies in Glasgow?

We combine local market knowledge with a national network. Our consultants are experts in their sectors, and we invest in long-term relationships, not just quick fills.
