Core Responsibilities & Duties

• Operational Leadership: Directly manage the daily activities of the warehouse team, including picking, packing, loading/unloading, and inventory control. Ensure all KPIs for productivity, accuracy, and timeliness are met or exceeded.
• Health & Safety Compliance: Act as the site’s designated person responsible for health, safety, and welfare. Conduct regular risk assessments, toolbox talks, and ensure full adherence to HSE and company policies, maintaining meticulous records.
• Inventory & Stock Management: Oversee cycle counts, annual stocktakes, and implement robust inventory control systems to minimise shrinkage and ensure high levels of stock accuracy using the company’s WMS.
• Process Improvement: Continuously analyse workflow and implement lean methodologies to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimise space utilisation within the Brighton facility.
• Team Development & Performance: Recruit, train, mentor, and appraise warehouse staff. Foster a positive, safety-conscious, and high-performance culture. Manage scheduling, absenteeism, and resolve any personnel issues promptly.
• Client & Supplier Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for key clients and suppliers regarding inbound/outbound logistics, resolving queries, and ensuring exceptional service levels.
• Reporting & Administration: Produce accurate daily/weekly reports on operational performance, inventory levels, incidents, and budget adherence for senior management.

Essential Skills & Experience Required

• Proven Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in a warehouse supervisory or management role, preferably within a fast-moving logistics, retail, or 3PL environment.
• Leadership Prowess: Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams of 10+ staff, with a strong focus on performance management and team building.
• Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory control principles, and modern picking/packing methodologies. Experience with MHE (Forklift, PPT) is essential, with relevant licences.
• Health & Safety Expertise: A thorough, up-to-date knowledge of UK HSE regulations, with experience conducting risk assessments, investigations, and promoting a zero-harm culture. IOSH or NEBOSH certification is a significant advantage.
• Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse data, identify bottlenecks, and implement effective solutions under pressure. Strong numerical and IT skills (MS Office, especially Excel).
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively at all levels, from operatives to directors.
• Right to Work: Must have full, unrestricted right to work in the UK.
