Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties

As a Support Worker with Quick Placement, you will be entrusted with providing person-centred care that promotes dignity, independence, and well-being. Your core duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Personal Care & Well-being: Providing sensitive and respectful support with personal hygiene, dressing, toileting, and medication administration in accordance with care plans and policies.
• Daily Living Support: Assisting with meal preparation, nutrition, hydration, and household tasks such as light cleaning and laundry to maintain a safe and comfortable living environment.
• Emotional & Social Support: Building trusting, professional relationships, offering companionship, and supporting individuals with their emotional and mental well-being. Facilitating access to community activities, social events, and appointments to reduce isolation.
• Promoting Independence & Skill Development: Encouraging and enabling individuals to develop and maintain daily living skills, make choices, and exercise control over their own lives in line with their abilities.
• Record Keeping & Communication: Maintaining accurate, confidential, and timely records of care provided, observations, and any incidents. Effectively communicating with the individual, their family, and other professionals like social workers and nurses.
• Safeguarding: Remaining vigilant to signs of abuse or neglect and following safeguarding procedures to protect vulnerable adults, ensuring their safety and rights are always upheld.
• Positive Behaviour Support: Understanding and implementing strategies to support individuals who may display behaviours of concern, using de-escalation techniques and a calm, proactive approach.

Essential Requirements & Skills

To be successful in this Support Worker role, you will need a blend of practical experience, fundamental skills, and the right personal attributes. We are looking for candidates who possess:

• Proven Experience: Minimum of 6 months of paid or voluntary experience in a similar Support Worker, Care Assistant, or Healthcare role within the UK.
• Compassion & Resilience: A genuine passion for supporting others, coupled with the emotional resilience to handle challenging situations with patience and empathy.
• Excellent Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to listen actively, build rapport, and relay information clearly to a diverse range of people.
• Reliability & Flexibility: A commitment to reliability, with the flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins as required. The ability to be part of an Emergency / Rapid Response Staff pool for last-minute cover is highly advantageous.
• Basic Qualifications: A valid, enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one through Quick Placement). Training in Moving & Handling, Safeguarding Adults, and First Aid is desirable, though we can provide this.
• Right to Work: Must have the legal right to work in the UK.
