Key Responsibilities & Duties
Your day will be dynamically split between clinical support and administrative excellence. The core responsibilities of this Dundee-based role include:
- Clinical Chairside Assistance: Preparing surgeries, sterilising instruments, passing equipment to the dentist, and ensuring strict adherence to infection control protocols (HTM 01-05). Providing reassuring support to patients during treatments.
- Reception & Patient Administration: Managing the front desk, greeting patients, handling appointments via phone and in-person, processing payments, and updating patient records with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Patient Care Coordination: Explaining treatment plans, booking follow-up appointments, and managing recall systems. Acting as a key liaison between patients, dentists, and other clinical staff.
- Clinical Stock & Equipment Management: Monitoring and ordering dental supplies, ensuring all clinical areas are fully stocked and equipment is maintained and reported for servicing.
- Compliance & Administration: Assisting with clinical note-taking, filing, and ensuring all documentation meets GDC and practice standards. Supporting the practice manager with day-to-day administrative tasks.
Essential Skills & Requirements
Must-Have Qualifications & Experience
- Recognised Dental Nursing qualification (NEBDN, NVQ, or equivalent) or significant proven experience as a Dental Nurse.
- Previous experience in a medical or dental receptionist role, with proficiency in appointment booking software (e.g., SOE Exact, Dentally, Software of Excellence).
- Immaculate understanding of CQC standards, GDPR, and infection control in a dental setting.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a calm, empathetic, and professional manner.

- Experience with dental radiography and impression taking.
- A valid driver's licence and own transport for potential cover at nearby practices.
