Frequently Asked Questions: Cabinet Maker Jobs
The role typically splits between workshop and site. In the workshop (often located in an industrial estate in North Liverpool), you'll be fabricating custom units from raw materials using saws, routers, and sanders. On-site (in apartments, offices, or retail spaces in L1), you'll be installing these units, which involves precise fitting, fixing to walls, installing hinges and handles, and making final adjustments. It's a hands-on, practical role requiring equal parts precision craftsmanship and problem-solving, especially in older Liverpool buildings where walls and floors aren't always perfectly straight.
Absolutely. For this specific Cabinet Maker / Installer role, proven, hands-on experience and a portfolio of your work are far more valuable than a certificate. Our client is looking for someone who can deliver quality workmanship reliably. During the interview process, you'll be asked detailed questions about techniques, materials, and past projects. If you can demonstrate your skill and knowledge, a lack of formal qualification is not a barrier. This pragmatic approach is similar to how we assess candidates for other skilled roles, like handyman jobs.
You will be paid weekly, directly into your bank account. Quick Placement employs you on a temporary contract (PAYE), meaning we deduct tax and National Insurance before you're paid, so no year-end tax surprises. You'll submit timesheets, which we verify with the client and process promptly. The hourly rate is competitive and reflects your skill level as a Cabinet Maker. Overtime is often available and paid at a higher rate. For a deeper comparison of pay structures, you can watch our video on temp agency vs direct hire pay.
Yes, this is a key feature of this role. The initial 8-week period is essentially an extended working interview for both you and the employer. If you perform well, integrate into the team, and the workstream continues (which, given the client's project pipeline in Liverpool, is highly likely), there is a clear and established pathway to a permanent position. Many of our temporary placements convert to perm. This"temp-to-perm" model is a low-risk way for skilled workers to secure long-term roles, similar to pathways we see in healthcare and hospitality recruitment.
